Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few restorations, including to the dog's tail. There are possible restorations to the tree stump at the back on the right side, to the proper left side of the girl's head, to the chest and neck at the front, and to the girl's proper left hand. The left corner of the letters is carved separately and was probably attached in the studio. There are a few minor naturally occurring inclusions and minor veining to the surface consistent with material. There are a few chips, including to the edges of the base. There is some dryness to the surface, including to the girl's chest.
