Condition

The panels are flat and even. There are no signs of retouching visible under ultra-violet light. There are some vertical lines of craquelure visible in the sky in the view near the Nile, associated with shallow cracks in the surface of the panel, and a 1.5cm hairline vertical crack in the upper right corner. There are signs of frame rubbing along the extreme edges and both works are dirty, and their appearance would be transformed with a professional surface clean. Each held in a decorative gold-painted wood and plaster coved and fluted frame, with laurel ornaments.
