Catalogue Note

A warm token of appreciation from the entire Kennedy clan. The inscription on the waiter reads: "Bob McNamara | Courageous friend | valiant public servant, sagacious family adviser | With deepest gratitude | The Kennedy Family."  It's possible that the gift was meant to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of JFK's appointment of McNamara as Secretary of Defense.
