Catalogue Note

"Some men see things as they are and say 'Why?' I dream of things that never were and say, 'Why not?'" Three paperweights with inspirational quotations by RFK and JFK. The fourth paperweight contains a mineral sample from Mount Kennedy, which is a peak in the Saint Elias Mountains in Yukon, Canada. After the assassination of President Kennedy, it was the highest peak in North America that that had not yet been climbed and was named in his honor.

Its first ascent was in 1965 by RFK, with a party of experienced mountaineers sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Upon reaching the summit, Kennedy left some of his brother's PT-boat tie clips, a copy of his brother's Inaugural Presidential Address, and a John F. Kennedy medallion.
