A group of approximately 106 black-and-white and color photographs, various sizes, documenting McNamara's youth, his tenure in the White House as Secretary of Defense with the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations (but chiefly of the Johnson White House years), his career as President of the World Bank, and some of his retirement activities, various sizes, housed in a portfolio and a green leather gilt album, some loose, one mounted on a plaque with easel back. One photo creased, the rest fine. Together with: 4 issues of Time Magazine: 7 April 1961; 2 February 1963 (2 copies); 8 July 1966( 2 copies) and Newsweek, 6 December 1965 featuring portraits of McNamara on the front covers.

Some of the highlights of this group are photos of McNamara's formal portrait taken 12 January 1961; of the swearing in ceremony on 20 January 1961; a meeting between JFK , McNamara, and other officials at the Kennedy Hyannis Port compound; 3 photographs of Mrs. Kennedy and brothers-in-law Bobby and Ted at the dedication ceremony for the landscaping of the President's grave, ca. 1967; the Inauguration of President Johnson; of LBJ presenting McNamara the Presidential Medal of Freedom on the day of his retirement; a color photograph of McNamara with Robert Frost inscribed by Frost but never sent to Jackie [Kennedy]; McNamara's official portrait as head of the World Bank; 3 photographs of McNamara's visit with President and Mrs. Carter, a color photograph of President George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Bush greeting McNamara; a photograph of President Clinton shaking hands with McNamara and inscribed "Thank you for your support of NAFTA— Bill Clinton."
