Catalogue Note

Warm  holiday wishes. All but one of the inscriptions on the mats by Lady Bird and LBJ  are dated (1965-1967). The Christmas greeting for 1965 reads: "To Margy and Bob McNamara with our | affection and best wishes Lady Bird Johnson | Christmas 1965 | Lyndon B. Johnson." 1966: "To Margy and Bob McNamara with dear affection | and wishes for a Happy Christmas | December 1966 Lady Bird and Lyndon B. Johnson." 1967: "For Margy and Bob with our love and wishes |  for a Christmas full of happiness | Lady Bird and Lyndon B. Johnson | December 1967."  The undated greeting, apparently in LBJ's own hand,  reads: "To Bob and Margaret | With affection and appreciation | Lyndon B. Johnson | and Lady Bird Johnson" (sighed in her own hand).
