Contained with a green leather photo album and two original portfolios. Green album: 12 photographs of varying sizes (11 black-and-white and one color snapshot) of which 2 are mounted on card recording commencement exercises at the University of Michigan, n.d. [but 1962]; Williams College (9 June 1963); Princeton University (18 June 1963) together with a 2-page agenda for the ceremony; Amherst College (3 June 1966); Harvard Business School Club of New York (15 April 1969) naming him Business Statesman of the Year, together with the citation; and the University of Notre Dame du Lac (n.d.). Green leather ringed album paneled gilt, green moiré pastedowns (17 1/2 x 12 1/4 in.; 370 x 315 mm). — Columbia University. Doctor of Law degree printed in red and black on art vellum (11 1/4 x 13 in.; 285 x 335 mm), 5 June 1962, matted within a blue cloth portfolio together with the typescript citation signed by the President of the University, Grayson Kirk; and the corresponding program, citation stained. Blue cloth portfolio paneled gilt with the University's gilt leather emblem at the center. — Harvard University. Engraved diploma on art vellum accomplished in a calligraphic hand, 14 June 1962, embossed paper seal, matted within a red morocco portfolio paneled gilt (16 3/4 x 13 1/2 in.; 425 x 344 mm), University's gilt emblem at the center. — UCLA. Document signed by Governor of California and President of the Regents Edmund G. Brown and President of the University Clark Kerr (12 x 17 in.; 300 x 430 mm), gilt embossed seal; marginal browning, left margin curled. Catalogue Note
Many prestigious American universities conferred an honorary doctor of law degree upon McNamara, including his alma maters UCLA and Harvard. He also received the Business Statesman Award from the Harvard Business School Club in New York in 1969.
