the commanding figure carved in grey Shoushan stone embellished in gilt and polychrome enamels, standing wearing a gilt-crested helmet, his face turned with a serene expression, fully clad in a gilt armour with a gilt plastron and shoulder protections hemmed with a ruyi band, further drapped in a loosely fastened robe finely incised with an en face blue dragon with a 'flaming pearl', his collar incised with archaistic dragons and lotus on the reverse, on an associated carved wood stand

Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.
Condition
Overall the figure is in good condition with some surface wear consistent with age. There is some rubbing to the polychrome enamels, more particularly along the bottom edge and on the hem and belt of the robe. Some retouching to the painted areas. There is a shallow chip polished behind the left side of the helmet's cresting with later red repaint. The wood base is associated to the figure.
