Description

seated in vajraparyankasana on a raised lotus pedestal, with his hands held in dhyanamudra holding the vase of immortality kalasha, his hair drawn up in a knotted jatamakuta behind a five-leaf crown, the torso bare, wearing a beaded necklace and bejewelled bangles, armlets and earrings, the shoulders draped with a yellow and pale-blue shawl billowing around his lower arms and falling on his crossed legs, the figure framed by a large prabhamandala embellished with a flaming border, brightly embroidered with colourful details, all within brocade mounts and an elaborate hardwood frame carved with bats, scrolling acanthus and butterflies at the corners

Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.

Condition

The thangka is in very good condition with all the embroidery and couched threads in remarkable condition. There is just an expected degree of fading. The wood frame is in overall good condition.
