Description
the votive plaque deftly carved and enamelled in high relief with Tara seated in lalisatana on a lotus base, her right foot supported on a lotus pedestal, her hands in dharmachakra, wearing a lower garment incised with red stripes, the divinity flanked by two slender lotus stalks and surrounded by eight smaller Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, seated in various postures and displaying various mudras, all on a lotus base and framed by an elaborate prabhamandala embellished with a floral border, the ivory finely painted and gilt on an orange ground, the reverse patinated to a warm amber colour and incised with a three-character Sanskrit inscription

Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.
Condition
Apart from some minor wear to the gilding and enamels the overall condition is quite good.
