Description
the stone of an even white tone with natural veins and inclusions, carved in relief with an armored deity possibly Guandi, sitting in the centre framed by flowing ribbons, grasping a long sword in his right hand, flanked by two standing female attendants in loosely draped robes, all standing on 'ruyi' clouds and within bevelled borders, the back pierced with four pairs of holes for attachment, mounted in a silver frame with a chain
Provenance
Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.
Condition
There is a 0.4 cm chip near the top right corner. The top left corner probably has a small bruise, which is partially concealed by the metal border. The overall condition of the plaque is otherwise quite good with only some minor scratches to the reverse.
