Description
the stoneware of a chestnut-brown tone, naturalistically modelled as a head of Chinese cabbage with layered leaves centred around the opening, two leaves enhanced with two beige-coloured caterpillars clambering and eating the veiny leaves, the base impressed with a four-character seal Chen Mingyuan zhi ('Made by Chen Mingyuan')
Provenance
Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.
Condition
In addition to some small flakes to the edges (max. 1.5 cm), two sections (4 x 5.2 cm and 1.7 x 3.3 cm) to the ends of the leaves have been restuck by glue. The head of one caterpillar has a chip.
