Description

of conical form, the flared sides rising from a concave base and a stepped foot, painted in gold with details finely etched, the exterior with two scenes depicting a noblewoman and her attendants, in one scene a servant presents her with a basket of peaches, in the other she walks accompanied by a child carrying a bird cage and a servant holding a qin instrument, the two scenes divided by pine trees and bamboo on one side, prunus and peonies on the other, below a cloud-enshrouded rim, the interior decorated with a medallion of a phoenix swooping above peonies and a band of pendent lappets at the rim, the base painted with a hibiscus

Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.

Condition

There is a restored 1cm chip to the footrim, some rubbing around the mouth rim, otherwise in good condition.
