Catalogue Note

The son of David Weinhold I, a goldsmith originally from Dresden, Johann Baptist Weinhold I was born in Augsburg following his father’s marriage in 1593. He became a master goldsmith 1628, the same year he married Anna Maria, daughter of the goldsmith Matthäus Lotter II. Although J.B. Weinhold I died in 1648, his widow continued to operate his workshop until about 1660 together with their son, Johann Baptist Weinhold II and a journeyman.
