Condition

4 feet old but probably later, probably originally had central stand, traces of this visible on back, some scratches also to reverse of rim, otherwise little scratches and normal wear only, good marks, handsome and excellent weight.

Catalogue Note

Jan Diederik Pont was born in Bremen in 1702. From 1713 he spent six years training with Johann Gräfenstein in Bremen. He became a master goldsmith in 1729 in Amsterdam, and married Mary von Rixtel in 1731. His son, Willem became a master goldsmith in 1755. Jan Diederik died in 1767.
