Catalogue Note

The maker's mark of JG Sheppich is unrecorded by Dr Seling (Seling no 2051). However Scheppich inherited his father's workshop in 1711 from his widowed mother who had carried on working and using her husband's maker's mark  after the latter's death (JM Scheppich  maker's mark I.S, Seling no. 1741). It seems possible that the younger Scheppich continued using his father's mark.
Johann Georg Scheppich was born in 1679, and worked in Friedberg from 1710.
Benedict Fürstenfelder died in 1754.
