Condition
a few minor normal dents, so larger ' rock on base', join of body and foot not perfectly neat, probably in construction, not a repair - good solid peices, clear marks, nicely gilt inside.

Catalogue Note
Johann Jakob Hermann Grabe of Augsburg was born in 1749. He became a master goldsmith in 1781 and married Christiane Catharine, the daughter of goldsmith Christian Drentwett II, in 1782. He was elected Beschaumeister in 1799, an office he continued to hold for many years, and was head of the guild in 1802/1803. He died in 1833.
