Catalogue Note

Esaias Hofmann was born in Augsburg around 1676. He became a master goldsmith in 1711 and married Regina Elisabetha, the daughter of goldsmith Tobias Baur, the same year. Hofmann died in 1741, but his widow continued to run his workshop for several years, probably with the help of an apprentice.
