Dirk Froger was born in 1708 in Amsterdam. He became a master goldsmith in 1731 and married Reyertje van Guttickhoven from Amersfoort. In 1759, he married his second wife, Marritje van der Star, in Amsterdam. His two sons, Reyer and Willem, followed their father’s profession and became master goldsmiths in 1755 and 1768 respectively. Froger died in 1780.
