Catalogue Note
Emanuel Drentwett, as the son of Philip Jacob Drentwett III, was the third generation of goldsmiths in his family. He was baptised on 15 October 1681, became a master goldsmith in 1713 and, in 1716, married Elizabeth, the daughter of goldsmith Johann Georg Priester. Two years later, he married Regina Catharina, the daughter of another Augsburg goldsmith, Christian Schliebers. He was elected Beschaumeister for 1737 to 1740, and head of the guild for 1744 to 1745. He died in 1752, but his widow continued to operate his workshop until 1763.
