  • 6.2 and 9.8cm, 2 3/8 and 3 7/8 in wide over handles
circular, the first lobed with applied cast scroll handles; the second plain, with applied beaded openwork lug handles, also struck with 1807 and 1814-1831 control marks

Catalogue Note

The Nuremberg town mark is recorded as 1632-1637 to 1640-1641 in Nürnberger Goldschmiedekunst, 1541-1868, Germanischen Nationalmuseums, Nürnberg, 2007, no. BZ15, p. 503.
Johann Ludwig Biller I, son of goldsmith Lorenz Biller I, was born in Augsburg in 1656.  He became a master goldsmith in 1684 and married the same year.  He married a second time in 1715. He was elected as head of the local guild of goldsmiths from 1707 to 1709 and died in 1732.
