Condition

In overall very good condition. Usual minor scratches inside. As stated in catalogue, unmarked except French later control mark on body and cover rim.

The shape, crimped rims and mirrored monogram are typical features of  Baltic and Scandinavian silver boxes, see an example by Christopher Mansfeld II,  Reval, 1715-174 in Baltic Silver, Carl Ehrnrooth, Helsinki, 1991,  fig. 183, and another by Johann Hieronimus Weischer, Viborg, circa 1690, in Dansk Sølv 1600-2000, The Danish Museum of Decorative Arts, 2002, fig. 18
