Condition

small scratch inside cover, overall very light wear and loss of gilding to highlights only, generally good condition, mark pretty clear, nice box.

Catalogue Note

A very similar snuff box with a full set of Liège marks, circa 1780, also with a wolf hunt on the cover and similar distinct applied work on the facing panel, is illustrated in Exhibition catalogue, Dozen am te Niezen, Provincial Meseum Sterckshof, Dec. 1996-March 1997, no. 56.
Nicolas Murguet was born in 1716.  He became a master goldsmith in 1752 and died in 1786.
