Catalogue Note
Servaas van der Gaaf, the son of Willem van der Gaaf and his wife, Catharina Hannot, was born in The Hague on 5 August 1691. After his apprenticeship, he married Jannetje van Osche, and became a master goldsmith on 5 May 1715. He died on 30 November 1757. His son, Lambert, who was born 24 August 1728, followed his father's profession and became a master goldsmith in November 1751.
Pieter Jacobus Staats was born in Deventer in 1715. He became a master goldsmith in Amsterdam in 1751 and married four times. He died after 1810.
