Catalogue Note
"A significant phase in Dogancay's development occurred in the early 1970s, after he began making lithographs at Tamarind. Partly because of the medium itself, he relinquished his casual or found compositions and began to organise his paintings graphically, with flatter areas and brighter colours. These are works without irony, displaying a respite from emotion."
