Ali Ibrahim Ocal has succeeded at propelling his work aesthetically, painterly and intellectually, without losing anything of the strength of his previous series. This dichotomy of imagined utopia and experienced dystopia in the current series exposes a critical side in Ocal's work. The artist discusses and reviews the modern man's attitude and approach towards the world without becoming polemic, didactic or pedagogic. Although he aligns himself more with the animals than with mankind, he does not create a hierarchy between himself and the spectator, as he does not impose any linear message on the viewer. The series is visually and conceptually open enough for leaving the spectator space for his own thoughts. In the end, during the viewing of his paintings, we might come to a critical questioning of our own relationship with the world we live in; something which is more than needed today.
