Condition

Overall the work is in good condition. The canvas has been lined and its surface has been coated with a thick layer of varnish, possibly to address a few areas of stable craquelure in the thicker areas of pigment. Despite this varnish layer the work maintains a rich and textured impasto. The left edge of the work shows a thin soft crease and associated webs of thin, stable cracking that suggest that the work was restretched when it was relined. Framed in the artist's original wooden frame, the measurements of the work are 15 3/4 by 17 3/4 in.
