Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original, and fails to convey the fluorescent tone of the light green. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals a spot of lifting towards the top of the lower right quadrant which appears to be inherent with the artist's thick application of varnish. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note

"I try and paint a picture where it doesn't matter whether anything can be recognised or not, but which somehow remains compelling. But 'compelling' here doesn't mean instantly explicable"

The artist in conversation with Wilfred Dickhoff, Kunst Heute 7, Cologne 1991, pp. 33-4
