Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the original is perhaps slightly deeper in tone. Condition: The work is in very good condition. The paint surface is slightly uneven and would appear to have a layer of surface dirt and there are deposits and surface dust which are most notable in the black pigments on the sitter's hair. There is one very small loss on the left vertical turnover edge which is approximately 15 cm up from the lower left corner. There is a slight diagonal crease in the canvas in the upper left. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
