each of the nine cut painted paper panels laid on canvas then on a timber base

Condition

Dramatic and very decorative. Each panel with areas of re-touching and there are numerous old scratches and marks to the surface.

By the mid-18th century Chinese painted export wallpapers were a highly sought after commodity. Imported directly by the East India Company, similar sets to that offered appeared in great rooms throughout the country.
