comprising a canapé stamped P. Brizard, two bergères and six fauteuils all stamped I. Avisse, the tapestry decorated with children and animals in floral cartouches on a green ground; restorations and wear to tapestry, reblocked (9)

Condition
In overall good conserved condition. Joints sound and sturdy. Old minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with normal usage and age. Some very minor losses to painted decoration and wear to arms which is normal for age and usage. One foot with a small crack. Reblocked. There are hairline construction cracks at the joints normal for age and usage which can be left. Evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active.There is an old very minor repair to the top of the front leg.

Catalogue Note
Jean Avisse (1723-1796), received Master 1745. He established his workshop in 1743 at the rue de Clery from where he first supplied tapestry makers and marchand- merciers before he worked exclusively for the French aristocracy.
P Brizard received Master 1772, was perhaps the brother of Sulplice Brizard the celebrated menuisier.
