Condition

Original canvas. Ultraviolet light reveals some minor scattered retouchings, notably in some of the yellow pigments above the fireplace and in the background near the large curtain to the right of the composition. Apart from a 2cm unrestored scratch in the ceiling in the upper left quadrant of the composition (just visible in the catalogue illustration), a yellowed dirty varnish, and some frame rubbing to the extreme edges visible framed, overall this work is in good condition and would be transformed with a surface clean. The varnish is more yellowed in reality than in the catalogue illustration. Held in a decorative gold-painted frame.
