Description

  • Antoine-Louis Barye
  • Pair of Hounds with Pheasants
  • signed: BARYE
  • bronze, dark brown patina, on a yellow velvet lined wood base

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and handling. There is a fissure at the top of the larger dog's tail, this is most likely an open original casting joint (the tail is stable). The dogs are cast separately to the base and joints are visible; the joint at the proper left front paw of the smaller dog is open but stable. The condition of the velvet lined base is good.
