the lacquer panels from a screen and probably Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period (1736-1795)

Condition

In country house condition. There are losses to the gilt-metal mounts, the left door panel with a complete section of acanthus carved border lacking and a further length (approx 11cm) lacking from the same door. The ebony veneers distressed with cracks to the surface, losses of polish, small losses and seperations. The reused sections of lacquer are very distressed, there is bubbling, lifting, cracks, areas of repainting and losses notably around lock sites. This piece will benefit from some consolidation and workshop attention.
