Description
- Jacopo Robusti, called Tintoretto
- St. George and the Dragon
- oil on canvas
Condition
The canvas has a fairly recent, firm relining. The paint surface is dirty and a little flat, especially in the background, but the intensity of the painting remains intact.
No major damages to the painting are apparent, though some old restored lines across the upper corners of the work suggests that these were once folded over.
Inspection under UV light reveals some scattered spot retouchings to the work, mostly in the background, though some more retouchings may be masked by the old, reflective varnish covering the work.
Offered in a gilt wood and plaster frame in fairly good condition, with a handful of minor losses.
