Description

  • Mahogany and brass
  • 34cm. high, 39cm. diameter; 1ft. 2in., 1ft. 4in. and 30cm. high, 31cm. diameter; 1ft., 1ft. 3½in.
of pierced waisted form and with ring handles and a brass liner together with a George III brass bound mahogany plate bucket, circa 1770, of pierced drum form and with a swing handle and a brass liner (2)

Provenance

Possibly one of the above acquired from Jameson, Sheffield, 21 September 1954, 'mahog bucket', according to Frederick McCarthy's stock books.

Condition

The larger bucket with brass liner wedged in place and now lacking handles and with split down one side and residual. The top band with handles is loose, lower band stable. The timber is tired with general scrtaches throughout, some splits. The smaller buckets with brass liner. The timber and brass mounts at the top and bottom are loose and would benefit from repair. There are some splits and general wear throughout consistent with age and use.
