Description

  • Hardstone, gilt-metal and bronzed metal
  • 78cm. high, 52cm. diameter; 2ft. 7¼in., 1ft. 9in.
with multiple geometric veneers to the circular top

Provenance

Acquired from Normanton [?] Hall, S [?], 30 June 1967, as a 'Blue John Table', according to Frederick McCarthy's stock books.

Condition

An unusual and stylish table. The finely veneered top is very attractive. The brass band that surrounds this hardstone surface has a dent, and there are some missing fixing screws to this band. The bronzed and brass stem is most attractive and of anthienne form. The legs have fractures to each knee, one of which is loose. At this cracked point there is flaking to the paint, this would appear to indicate that this all of this area has been later black painted.
