Description

the hinged lid opening to reveal a pink silk lined fitted interior, above a pair of doors concealing three small drawers, together with a Continental boulle style ivory, brass and silvered foil inlaid rosewood table lectern, circa 1850 (2)

Condition

Casket: wear to japanning, with exposed areas of gesso in these areas. Evidence of old worm. The interior is generally good. There is a large repair to the hinged site on the left lower side. The pine base with variations to finish and distress. Feet tarnished. A charming piece. Lectern: 32.5cm. high, 26cm. wide. Slightly warped. Areas of filler notable to brass inlay on right side. Reverse with losses to ebonised surface. Stem with tarnishing to silvered and brass decoration. Right rear foot with repaired break, overpainting and filler at this site.
