Possibly acquired from Maxwell, Ludlow, 11 February 1956, 'French Armchair', according to Frederick McCarthy's stock books.
Condition
An elegant chair. This chair may well have been gessoed at some stage, as there are traces of white plaste to inset carved detailr. It is solid and there are some losses to detail from rubbing and use. The ribbon motif to both the cresting and apron has some losses to carved detail. The upholsterey generally in good order. Arm rests though slightly scuffed. An elegant chair.
