Condition

A superb table and highly functional. This may well have come from an institutional building judging by the very early carved initials to the top. The timber is beautifully figured and there is a olvely surface patina, there are some old marks and scratches. Lovely wear to the stretcher with very old reapirs including a reapired break. The cleated ends finely made later examples. Separation to one bracing bracket on one trestle end.

Catalogue Note

This superb table with its fine patination and rich colour features some carved graffiti to the top. As these markings have great age it would suggest that it may well have started its long history in some sort of institution rather than a private dwelling.
