- Painted enamel on copper and stained softwood
- 48cm. diameter. 9cm. deep; 1ft. 7in., 7½in.
centred by European figures, the reverse decorated with two cranes, damaged, on a later hardwood stand
Provenance
Acquired from A. Graveson, 24 January 1968, 'A Canton Enamel Bowl', according to Frederick McCarthy's stock books.
Condition
Extensive wear throughout evidencd in the form of craquelure and losses to enamel surface. There are losses to the enamel on the lip, the rim and losses to the bowl wheer the metal has been impacted, these dents are visible as is the copper beneath at these sites. The reverse with similar damage. Evidnece of old restoration in the form of crude filler. Despite the wear and the distress to the surface this is a very decorative peice.
