rectangular, the lid chased with a Commedia dell'Arte subject, the base with Orpheus, on a matted ground within diaper or scrollwork, raised thumbpiece,  label PJB 79

Condition

hinge repaired and hole in the inside of the base, slight wear on base and wear to gilding around edges, minute dent on back rim of base, thumbpiece uneven, fascinating subject, see footnote and very crisp. maker's mark apparently J[?] a garb between, date letter, charge and discharge marks for 1722-1726
