Louis Saltret entered his mark in 1713 and is recorded on the pont au Change in 1715. He evidently had rather a chequered career since he was prohibited from working for 9 years from December 1738 for making low standard works in silver. He recommenced work officially in October 1746 but the following year was stripped again of his professional qualifications for lending out his mark. Four months later, however, he was reinstated, having been pardoned by the king but appears in no further contemporary lists of goldsmiths.
