Les Simphonies concertantes op.7, op.8 et op.12 contiennent des parties concertantes pour deux violons (l'op.7 contient un solo pour viole) ainsi que le corps principal du ripiero pour les cordes, obois et cors. Ces nouveaux double-concertos sont les plus beaux succès du compositeur, chacun contenant des ritornellos et des sections de solo plus longues, plutôt que d'être effectués dans la forme de la sonate habituellement utilisée pendant la période classique. Voir The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, vol 7, p.41 (quand les éditions parisiennes ont étaient prioritaires sur celles d'Amsterdam).
