Overall the condition of the plaster is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are few slightly visible original casting lines.

Auguste Mathieu Panseron, compositeur de musique classique ainsi que pédagogue français, élève d'Antonio Salieri, devint maître de chapelle du Prince Esthérazy. Une version en plâtre patiné est conservée au musée Carnavalet.
