Spontini, Méhul et Lesueur furent les pères fondateurs de l'opéra français, et concidérés comme tels par Berlioz. Cette collection contient leurs oeuvres les plus significatives. De plus, le présent exemplaire de Euphrosine par Méhul contient une partition complète manuscrite de la version révisée en 1791 du troisième acte. The New Grove liste, à Paris, deux autres manuscrits de ce troisième acte révisé qui ne fut jamais publié.
