Cette sculpture illustre les soeurs Marchisio, Barbara (1833-1919) et Carlotta (1835-1872), chantant l'opéra Semiramide de Rossini, à leurs débuts à l'Opéra en 1860. Les paroles sur la base sont tirées du duet de l'act 2 ("Giorno d'orrore! E di contento!, Nelle tue braccia, in tal momento"), dans lequel Barbara exécute le rôle d'Arsace (contralto), et Carlotta le rôle principal, la Reine Semiramide.This sculpture depicts the Marchisio sisters Barbara (1833-1919) and Carlotta (1835-1872) singing in Rossini's opera Semiramide in their début at the Opéra in 1860. The words on the base come from the duet in Act 2 ("Giorno d'orrore!, E di contento!, Nelle tue braccia, in tal momento"), where Barbara sang the role of the contralto hero Arsace and Carlotta the title role of Queen Semiramide.
