Il s'agit de la partition complète d'une des plus grandes oeuvres de Berlioz. Le célèbre 'Rex tremendæ', avec ses huit paires de timbales, est gravé sur des pages contenant jusqu'à 32 portées. La partition vocale n'apparaitra qu'en 1882.
This is the full score of one of Berlioz's grandest works. The famous 'Rex tremendæ', with its eight pairs of timpani, is engraved on up to 32 staves per page. The vocal score did not appear until 1882. This lot also includes a first edition of the libretto of "La damnation de Faust", Paris: Labitte, 1846 [Hopkinson 77], "A travers chants", Paris: Lévy, 1862, [Hopkinson 86], and an edition of "Grande Traité d'Instrumentation de d'Orchestration modernes", Paris: Lemoine, [c.1860], [Hopkinson, 30B(a)]
