Catalogue Note
Concerto I: Scaccia, Concerto in G major.
Concerto II: Veracini, Concerto in B-flat major, [voir The New Grove,
p. 422].
Concerto III: Vivaldi, Concerto in C major, [Ryom no.179 ; Pincherle 14].
Concerto IV: Polazzo, Concerto in D major.
Concerto V: Tartini, Concerto in C major, [Dounias no.1].
Concerto VI: Vivaldi, Concerto in D major (double concerto). [Ryom no.513 ; Pincherle 159 ; Malipiero 486].
Of the utmost rarity. This is an important collection of violin concertos by Vivaldi, Veracini, Tartini and others. All publicatons by G.F Witwogel are rare and many are lost altogether, including the Libro Primo from this collection, which is not recorded by RISM at all.
The collection contains two concertos by Antonio Vivaldi, one a double concerto, neither of which were otherwise published during the composer's lifetime, and the autograph manuscripts of which are both lost:
Concerto I: Scaccia, Concerto in G major
Concerto II: Veracini, Concerto in B-flat major, [see The New Grove,
p. 422]
Concerto III: Vivaldi, Concerto in C major, [Ryom no.179 ; Pincherle 14]
Concerto IV: Polazzo, Concerto in D major
Concerto V: Tartini, Concerto in C major, [Dounias no.1]
Concerto VI: Vivaldi, Concerto in D major (double concerto). [Ryom no.513; Pincherle 159; Malipiero 486]
