Catalogue Note
Rare.
Rare. We have traced only one copy of this editon in auction record. Rameau's pastorale-héroïque of 1751 was written to celebrate the birth of the Duke of Burgundy, the elder brother of the future King Louis XVI. The score is notable for containing the first recorded use of clarinets in a French opera (they appear in the overture, in a section imitating the firework display celebrating the duke's birth).
